Edinburgh based indie pop heroes Aberfeldy have confirmed details of their new album 'Somewhere To Jump To'.

Once upon a time, all was perfect in Aberfeldy. The Edinburgh based group combined lyrical wit and a carefree pop touch to craft some songwriting gems. But after two albums the band were rocked by internal splits.

The band's two female members departed, leaving singer Riley Briggs nursing a broken heart. Taking time off, the singer recruited new musicians including multi instrumentalists Chris Bradley, Kirsten Adamson - daughter of Big Country's Stuart Adamson - and the classically trained Poppy Ackroyd.

Writing new material, Riley Briggs focussed on the heartbreaking events in his life. The result is an album which is by turns melancholic yet humorous, bleak yet hopeful for the future.

'Somewhere To Jump To' is due to be released through Tenement Records later this year, with Aberfeldy confirming a host of live appearances. The band will have plenty of new material to show for their efforts, including a lovelorn plea to a certain former ban mate which has already caused a stir amongst fans.

Other highlights of the new album include the (allegedly true) story of a journey to a commune run by a former member of the Incredible String Band. The hippy folk era is an important influence on Aberfedly, alongside an unashamed love of pop.

From the new album 'Lisa Marie' is asong written from Michael Jackson's perspective begging Lisa Marie Presley not to leave him for Nicholas Cage, written just before the pop icon shuffled off this mortal coil.

The record is due to be preceded by the single 'Malcolm' which is due for release on August 16th. One of Scotland's great lost talents, Aberfeldy's return comes just as the summer sun begins to show itself.

Aberfeldy are due to release 'Somewhere To Jump To' on August 23rd. Tracklisting:

1. Claire
2. Somewhere To Jump From
