Lisa Marie Presley to appear at launch of new Elvis exhibit at Graceland

A new exhibit at Elvis Presley's Graceland in Memphis will open next week focusing on the relationship between Elvis and his daughter, Lisa Marie. It was announced on Tuesday that Lisa Marie Presley will appear on her 44th birthday, February 1, at the launch of this new exhibit called "Elvis...Through His Daughter's Eyes."

Lisa Marie is the only child of Elvis and has reportedly contributed personally to the planning and development of the exhibit. Artifacts of Lisa Marie's to be included in the exhibit include the Gold ID Bracelet given to her by her father, a childhood tricycle, crib, record player and baby footprints. Family photos and home movies will illustrate the unique experience Lisa Marie had growing up at Graceland.

This exhibit is one of three new exhibits launched in 2012 at Graceland to celebrate the King during the 35th anniversary year of the singer's passing in 1977. "Elvis on Tour" opened on January 5 and celebrates the 40th anniversary of the award-winning documentary also called "Elvis on Tour."

When Lisa Marie Presley arrived to preview Graceland's new exhibit dedicated to her childhood relationship with her father, Elvis Presley, she was overcome with emotion.

"I walked in with my twins [Harper and Finley, 3], looked around, and I gasped. I couldn't tell if I was going to laugh or cry," she tells PEOPLE.

The exhibit, called Elvis ... Through His Daughter's Eyes, opened Wednesday (Lisa Marie's 44th birthday) and features childhood mementos including her crib, first baby shoes and a gold ID bracelet her father gave her, among other artifacts.

"It was like that show This is Your Life," she says. "I walked in and there was my tiny little first record player, my first faux fur coat, the key to the golf cart my father had given me for my birthday that I probably hadn't seen in 35 years."

Presley adds that she's grateful the archivists at her childhood home have preserved her things. If they were in her possession, she says with a laugh, they'd have gone missing. "I don't trust myself. If my head wasn't attached to my shoulders, I'd have lost it."

She is, however, doing her best to document the lives of her daughters with musician husband Michael Lockwood.

"My older kids [model Riley Keough, 22, and musician Benjamin, 19,] wish I had more photos of them when they were little," says Presley. "So we're constantly photographing the twins because we know how quickly it goes by."

Life with Her Kids

Presley says she relishes every moment she can spend with her youngest children.

"Our life revolves around them and they dictate us and everyone around us. It's kind of about them and they're doing really well," she says. "I don't want to put them in school just yet – I want to keep them to myself as long as possible!"

The twins will hit the road with Presley when she tours to promote her next album, which was produced by T Bone Burnett and feels "more rootsy and organic" than her previous efforts. "They love to travel. They're little gypsies," says Presley.

She's also trying to convince her son Benjamin, a bass player who is the spitting image of his grandfather, to join her touring band.

"We haven't ever worked together but he's the one person who can get away with being a certain way with me and talking to me a certain way that no one else could get away with," she says with a laugh.

"He kind of runs me a little bit. He's really strong-minded and he will tell me what's what. It would be interesting, because if we butt heads, we really butt heads, and honestly, I'd back down. He has that over me."

"Elvis ... Through His Daughter's Eyes" is featured on Graceland's VIP tour and will remain open for two years.

Lisa Marie Presley's life "revolves around her children".

The songwriter and daughter of legendary musician Elvis Presley is dedicated to motherhood.

Lisa is mom to 22-year-old Riley Keough, 19-year-old Benjamin and three-year-old twin girls Harper and Finley.

The star is in awe of how fast her tots are growing up.

"Our life revolves around them and they dictate us and everyone around us. It's kind of about them and they're doing really well," Lisa told People magazine. "I don't want to put them in school just yet - I want to keep them to myself as long as possible!"

Lisa recently visited a museum exhibit dedicated to her life at her father's iconic residence Graceland in Tennessee. Seeing items and photographs from her past flooded Lisa with nostalgia.

NASHVILLE (Reuters) - Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, gave visitors to Graceland an inside look at her life with the King of Rock 'n' Roll at his Memphis estate on Wednesday as she celebrated her 44th birthday with the opening of a new exhibit.

The exhibit is called "Elvis... Through His Daughter's Eyes," and displays artifacts including Lisa Marie's baby footprints, tricycle, a record player and her crib, said Kevin Kern, director of public relations for Elvis Presley Enterprises.

"This exhibit is something she has been very excited about," Kern said, adding that it also includes family photos and home movies featuring Lisa Marie's childhood and her relationship with her father before he died in 1977.

On an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America" Wednesday, Lisa Marie Presley showed off a scarf on which Elvis had written the words "I love my Lisa, Daddy" from 1972.

She told the show that she remembered her father singing "Can't Help Falling in Love" to her. She said the new exhibit includes some of her dad's "most amazing clothes ever" and a small chest containing personal items he took with him on tour, including a photo of his father and his driver's license.

Twenty-five people were chosen from more than 2,000 entries for the first day of the exhibit, and each was allowed to bring a guest.

Among the visitors was Tom Termeer, 39, who with his wife Kristen, 35, made the 15-hour drive from Ontario, Canada.

Termeer had been scheduled for a meeting with his doctor Wednesday in preparation for brain surgery to help relieve pain from cluster headaches. But once he discovered that he had won the lottery to meet Lisa Marie Presley, "I had to blow that appointment off to come here," he said.

"One of the biggest reasons I did that is my surgery at the end of the month. Everybody said 'Be Positive,' and I am, but there is a slight chance it may not work and a slight chance I may die," Termeer said. "This is filling the bucket list."

He said that when Lisa Marie Presley learned how far he had traveled and what he is facing she spent extra time with him and his wife.

"It was overwhelming. It was hard to control my composure," Termeer said, adding, "I couldn't help but bawl my eyes out."

It was his second trip to Graceland, which draws an average of 600,000 visitors a year, but his wife's first.

"Elvis was my guy," he said.
